Tick InformationUnfortunately Ticks are a fact of life in much of Australia, and Whiteman Park has ticks the same as elsewhere. Ticks are a parasitic insect that dig into your skin to suck your blood. Ticks need a host animal to survive, and because of the abundance of wildlife in the park they can be a problem. Fortunately it is very unusual to catch disease from them in this state. This page is intended to assist members in preventing bites, and what to do if bitten. Experience has shown that Aeroguard Tropical Strength or RID products which contain the active ingredient DEET are useful as a repellent. These are only two examples, there are many other available products. Some useful links are provided to assist in removal and prevention. The references to disease in the web sites below generally do not apply to the Ticks in Western Australia - fortunately!
